5 books to read right now!

Hello! In my last post I had mentioned that one of the many things you can do to stay busy in this time is to read. Personally, I have always been extremely picky when it comes to picking out the best books to read as well as have a lack of motivation to actually read in general. However, in the past couple of months I have been way more motivated to read and have actually started to enjoy it! Here are my top 5 favorite books I have read that I think you may like too!

  1. Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

When I first heard about this book I actually was really skeptical about it. All the reviews I was getting were super mixed and so I decided to see for myself if it was worth the hype. I am here to tell you that it is in fact worth the hype. This book takes place in the 1950’s up until the 70’s and is about a young girl named Kya and her  life growing up. Sounds boring but I promise it gets better. Throughout the book you learn that someone has been killed  and the book goes back and forth between the 1970s and the 1950s. The twist at the end will have you SHOOK. If I am going to be honest, it is kind of a slow start to the story but once you finish it you will not regret it.

  2. Love Does by Bob Goff

Love Does is a great book for anyone looking for some guidance in their life especially in their Faith. Bob Goff is a Christian writer who, throughout the book shares about his life and how he has seen God work throughout it. He also shares many of the lessons he has learned by just trusting in God. Very inspiring!! It is a pretty short read, but it is one of my favorite books to re open up and look through when I need a little reminder about how amazing our Lord is!!

  3. The Breakdown by B.A. Paris

The Breakdown is a thrilling murder mystery in which the main character, Cass finds herself caught up in a murder case when she witnesses the victim just before they were killed. Throughout the book you learn about Cass’ life and that her mother had suffered from Dementia and died fairly young. This book will leave you on the edge of your seat as you learn more about why the murder happened and more about Cass’ life. This is yet another book with a very creative twist that I would have never seen coming. 10/10.

  4. You are a Badass by Jen Sincero

Yes this is a “self help” book, but it is not like the typical self help book and you’ll get what I mean when you read it. After you finish this book you will absolutely feel like you can do anything you have wished to do and may have held yourself back on. Jen Sincero talks about how to go about dealing with certain personalities you may come across in life and how to just be a badass in whatever you are doing. Along with that, Sincero is a very straightforward author in that she tells you how it is throughout the book which is sometimes good to hear from someone. This book is extremely motivating and is another great book to re open up when I need a little kick of inspiration or reminder that I can do whatever I set my mind to!

  5. Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate

Very similar to Where the Crawdads Sing, Before We Were Yours goes back and forth between the present day and 1939. You learn about what seems like two completely different families and stories however they are more alike and connected than you think. This book is centered around chasing a loving family life (which I know, sounds very sad) but, through the trials and tribulations the characters ending up intertwined in the best way possible. Very sweet book!

Always,

Maura
