The Best Places to go in the Northern VA area!
Growing up in Northern VA, I am so grateful for all of the opportunities I have had to so easily be able to go to places like Washington D.C. But as I have grown up, I have realized that there are so many hidden gems that are way less busy but still somewhat “define” the NoVA area. These are my top four places to spend my days when I’m looking for a small adventure!
1. Clifton VA
Clifton is my absolute favorite place to go out of these four locations. It’s a small little town that has some cute shops and restaurants and a lot of nice places to walk around or sit. This location includes one of my favorite coffee shops called Clifton Cafe, which is the perfect place to stop by if you want a quick bite or sweet snack! Not only that, but Clifton is a great pace to take photos!
2. Sky Meadows State Park
This is a rather new place to me, but I am so happy that I finally know it exists. Sky meadows is a series of hiking trails with absolutely beautiful views. It’s slightly less than an hour away from the more central Northern Virginia areas, but it is worth the drive. This location is super easy to get to and the surrounding area is breathtaking.
3. Mosaic District
Mosaic District is more of a “city-vibe” minus the city craziness. This location has multiple shops, restaurants and a large area for picnics and activities. I personally love coming here when I want to go on a shopping spree but don’t want to be stuck inside of a mall. This is again another great area for lots of cute pics!
4. Skyline Drive
Similar to Sky Meadows, this is a little bit of a drive but again worth it! I personally think that this is the best place to watch the sunset and one of the most popular spots to go to in Northern VA. During the summer it does get pretty busy at the overlooks, but even if you just want to go for a drive up the mountain it’s definitely worth it!
