Last Minute DIY Gifts
Getting gifts for our loved ones can be so hard sometimes! What do they want? What do they like? What if I can’t afford it? These are all questions that can sometimes go through my head when I am choosing gifts for people. However, there are so many ways to make gifts that are not only more affordable, but also more meaningful to whoever you are giving it to. I have put together a list of some of my favorite DIY gifts to make. These are so fun to create while adding your own personal touch!
Candles
Candles have to be my favorite things to make! You can get so creative with the scents you pick out and the containers you put them in. I love to go to the thrift store and go to the glassware section because there are always so many cute jars and different kinds of small vases and mugs that are perfect for holding a candle. Candles are also nice to receive because they are so relaxing and can be used to decorate a room. The process for actually making it is simple- once you have your container, go to a craft store (like Hobby Lobby or Michaels) and they have pre- made candle wax scents that are ready to be heated up and poured into your container! ALong with that grab some candle wicks too! When heating up just place a pot of hot water on the stove and place a glass bowl into the water. Put in the wax and keep the heat on low until it’s all melted. While the wax is melting, place your candle wick in your container BUT leave it hanging just above the bottom (Use a pencil to wrap the top of the wick around so it stays in place while still hanging). Once the wax is melted, pour into your container and voila! You have a candle! Trim the excess wick and it’s all good to go! So fun, so easy, and SO affordable!
Wooden Sign
This is something that is not only easy, but also very trendy! You can find plain wooden signs from the craft store or you could even go to a hardware store like Lowe’s and get a piece of wood from there. All you have to do is decorate! You could paint a picture on it OR write a cute quote on it with a paint pen. You could even hang some pictures on it! This makes such a cute decoration and can be such a sweet little reminder for whoever you give this too!
Picture in a Frame
This is one of the most simple and meaningful gifts you can give to someone! You can either find a frame in your house that you never use or go to the thrift store and find a really cute picture frame to repurpose. Once you have your frame all you have to do is print out the picture you have chosen. You could even write a little note on the glass of the frame somewhere below the picture to whoever you are giving this too!
Memory Book
This is such a cute way to look back on some of the experiences you and your loved ones have been through. A memory book can be made in so many ways- you can use an empty photo album or a notebook to place pictures and small momentos in. Not only is this a fun way to look back on some great memories, but it is so thoughtful too!
